- Desde el 18 de diciembre de este 2024 TODO visitante de la Reserva Monteverde se debe presentar primero al Centro de Visitantes (a excepción de aquellos visitantes que hayan reservado los tours de caminata nocturna y de aves) aproximadamente un kilómetro antes del área protegida.
Todas las personas visitantes de la Reserva Monteverde deberán de presentarse en la recepción del Centro de Visitantes Harriet Powell (CVHP) del Centro Científico Tropical antes de ingresar al área protegida desde este 18 de diciembre de 2024.
El Centro de Visitantes será, a partir de esa fecha, el único punto para adquirir los tiquetes físicos de la Reserva Biológica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde. Lo anterior aplica para todo visitante, agencia, tour operador o guía que desee entrar.
El Centro de Visitantes se encuentra aproximadamente un kilómetro antes de la Reserva Monteverde, frente al Hotel Selina Monteverde.
Ventanillas en el Centro de Visitantes.
Las ventanillas en la Recepción del CVHP serán el punto para:
- la compra y entrega de entradas así como la asignación del sendero;
- la compra y facturación de todos los servicios guiados y de compras realizadas por el sitio web oficial de la Reserva Biológica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde;
- alquiler de binoculares
- el pago del servicio de parqueo privado.
Parqueo en el Centro de Visitantes.
A partir del 18 de diciembre no se autorizará el ingreso de vehículos particulares en la Reserva Monteverde, a excepción de aquellos visitantes que hayan reservado los tours de Caminata Nocturna y Avistamiento de Aves. El transporte interno que conecta el Centro de Visitantes Harriet Powell (CVHP) con la Reserva saldrá en ambos sentidos cada 10-15 minutos, desde las 7:00 a.m.
El parqueo en el Centro de Visitantes es de uso exclusivo para clientes, agencias y guías independientes. El valor de su tiquete es de cinco dólares estadounidenses (US$5.00) y el servicio se brinda de manera continua desde las 07:00 hasta las 17:00 todos los días. Importante: El servicio de parqueo está sujeto a disponibilidad de espacios.
Clientes de tours guiados.
Los visitantes que hayan adquirido un tour guiado en línea deben recolectar los tiquetes físicos en el Centro de Visitantes y deben de tomar el transporte interno hasta la Reserva Monteverde, donde se encontrarán con el guía frente a la Tienda.
En los casos de los tours de Avistamiento de Aves y de Caminata Nocturna las revisiones de las reservaciones se harán directamente en la Tienda directamente en la Reserva. El tiempo de espera máximo del guía es de 10 minutos posterior a la hora de inicio programada.
Si el visitante ha contratado un servicio de tour operado por terceros, de igual manera debe de adquirir su tiquete de ingreso regular a la Reserva Monteverde en la ventanilla de la Recepción del Centro de Visitantes.
Información pertinente para Agencias.
Todas las agencias deben de recoger sus tiquetes físicos en la Recepción del Centro de Visitantes Harriet Powell aunque se hayan pagado de forma directa o reservado previamente. Las agencias con transporte privado podrán dejar y recoger a sus clientes en la Reserva Monteverde.
Harriet Powell.
Ann Harriett McCurdy (Powell) y su esposo George llegaron a Costa Rica en 1970 desde California como estudiantes de posgrado. Harriett trabajaba con abejas de las orquídeas y enseñaba biología en la Escuela de Amigos de Monteverde. Tras finalizar sus investigaciones, los Powell permanecieron dos años más en Monteverde y dedicaron su tiempo, energía y dinero a la creación de la Reserva Biológica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde en los 1970s.
Cruz Roja Costarricense.
Gracias a un convenio con el Centro Científico Tropical, la Cruz Roja Costarricense cuenta con un espacio dentro en el Centro de Visitantes para que su comité local pueda garantizar la permanencia en los servicios de atención de emergencias para la comunidad.

(EN) Be aware of these changes when you visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.
- Starting on December 18th, 2024, all visitors must arrive to the Visitors Center, approximately one mile before the Reserve (except visitors who booked the Bird Watching or the Night Walk tours).
- At the Visitors Center you will be able to collect or purchase your tickets. Parking service and internal transportation to the Reserve will be available there too.
All the Monteverde Reserve visitors must pass by the front desk at the Harriet Powell Visitors Center (CVHP) before entering the biological reserve, starting this December 18th.
From that date on, the Visitors Center’s ticket office and our official website will be the only ways to acquire tickets to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. This applies to all visitors, agencies, private tour operators/guides who wish to enter.
The Visitors Center is located about one mile before the Reserve. It is in front of the Selina Monteverde Hostel.

At the ticket office at the Visitors Center, you will be able to:
- Purchase or collect your tickets. At his point, a trail will be assigned to you.
- Purchase all our guided tours and other services and acquire the bills of the purchases made through the official website.
- Rent some binoculars.
- Acquire the private parking service.
Visitors Center Parking services.
From December 18th, private vehicles won’t be allowed to enter the Monteverde Reserve (the only exception been for those visitors who have booked the Night Walk or Bird Watching tours).
The Visitors Center – Monteverde Reserve inner transportation will depart in both ways every 10 to 15 minutes, starting at 7:00 a.m.
The parking lot is exclusively for visitors, agencies and private guides use. The service costs five US dollars (US$5.00) and it is available from 07:00 to 17:00 every day. Please take note that the parking service availability will depend on its capacity.
Guided tours.
Visitors who purchased an online guided tour must collect the tickets at the Visitors Center.
For the Bird Watching or Night Walk tours, you may arrive directly at the Reserve where your bookings will be checked by our guides outside the store. Our guides will wait a maximum of 10 minutes after the tour scheduled start.
If a visitor acquired a third-party tour service, they must also purchase Monteverde Reserve regular ticket (at the Visitor Center’s ticket office).
Key information for Tour Agencies.
All agencies must collect the tickets at the Front Desk of the Harriet Powell Visitors Center, no matter if they paid or booked in advance. Agencies with private transportation may drop off and pick up their clients directly at the Monteverde Reserve.
Harriett Powell.
Ann Harriett McCurdy (Powell) and her husband George came to Costa Rica from California back in 1970 as graduate students. Harriett worked with orchid bees and taught biology at the Friends of Monteverde School. After completing their research, the Powells stayed for two more years in Monteverde where they spent their time, energy and money in the creation of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve in the 1970s.
